| John Rocco started his career in the commercial shell fishing industry on Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. In February of 1985, a rogue wave sent John’s boat to the bottom of the sea and John to the admissions office of the Rhode Island School of Design. Two years later, he moved to the Big Apple to study illustration at the School of Visual Arts. Three days prior to graduation, he was hired to illustrate a children’s book with Author/Actress Whoopi Goldberg, thus propelling him to move to Los Angeles where he fell under the creative tutelage of motion graphics pioneer Robert Abel. For the next ten years, John worked as a creative director/art director at such companies as Digital Domain, RGA/ LA, DreamWorks, Walt Disney Imagineering and PDI where he was the pre-production art director on the top-grossing animated feature Shrek. In 2000, John did an 18-month stint in the Philippines running a 3D animation company and then returned to Los Angeles to work in interactive television, location based entertainment and most recently, the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame. |
